My mixing music tips:
Keep on mixing - You cant beat experience. Getting good at mixing takes times. Practice, practice, practice.
Your room acoustics - I know boring !! But it really does matter, treat your room now !!
Digital analog converters - Buy the best coverters you can afford. Apogee or lynx sound great.
Monitors/Speakers. - I highly recommend the focal CMS65 monitors. If you cant hear the difference between a mp3 and a WAV file you need to upgrade.
Mixing in the box. - Keep them faders down. Your not mixing on a analog desk with lots of headroom, top tip !
Mastering thoughts. - Dont think it will be fixed by the mastering engineer. What really matters is a great mix.
I think if your really serious about mixing then the top 4 points have to be addressed. I know some of this equipment can
be expensive. Save up and invest in your hobby/love/interest. You won't regret it !!!
